Here are some of my life-savers and best of's ...

Your Child's Growing Mind by Jane Healy

Caring For Your Baby and Young Child: Birth to Age 5 by the American Academy of Pediatricians (I loved this book because it presented such a broad range of anticipated behaviors for every stage and did not espouse a particular school of thought so I was free to parent my children as I saw fit.)

Parenting With Love and Logic by Foster Cline (note, I have only read Parenting Teens With Love and Logic, so I can't vouch for the younger years, but I've appreciated their approach)
